Summary Job Summary The Director of Pharmaceutical Clinical Services provides leadership and clinical expertise in planning, implementing, and evaluating medication use processes to ensure high-quality pharmaceutical care across hospital and ambulatory settings. Supports the Department of Pharmacy mission by aligning services with strategic goals and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include serving as a clinical resource, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop evidence-based guidelines, leading education and performance improvement initiatives, supervising clinical pharmacists, mentoring pharmacy students and residents, and overseeing the PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program. Demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and operational management skills, with a commitment to continuous professional development. Minimum Job Requirements: Work Experience: Seven years of experience in a hospital pharmacy required. Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY1) preferred or equivalent experience. Five years of management experience or pharmacy practice management residency required. License/Registration/Certification: Current Texas Pharmacy License. Current Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) or an equivalent certification required; individuals not currently certified must meet this requirement within 12 months from the date of hire or the date placed in the position, as applicable. BLS and ACLS required. Education and Training: Graduate from an accredited School of Pharmacy. Certificates of completion of 15 hours approved continuing education per year. Skills: Competency in computer software and hardware utilization. Understanding of basic accounting concepts and principles Knowledgeable and proficient in pharmacy operations, policies and procedures. Effective communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge of strategic planning to align pharmacy goals with hospital and departmental priorities. Expertise in pharmaceutical care and medication use across diverse hospital services. Strong leadership and coordination skills to direct pharmacy operations and serve as a clinical resource. Ability to collaborate with medical staff and multidisciplinary teams to develop evidence-based medication programs. Experience in coordinating operational changes with pharmacy management. Skill in designing and delivering training programs for pharmacy and healthcare staff. Knowledge of clinical research and performance improvement processes. Proficiency in managing medication safety, including adverse event reporting and data analysis. Understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards to ensure compliance. Excellent communication skills for liaising with leadership and educational partners. Ability to precept and mentor pharmacy students and residents, including residency program oversight. Supervisory experience managing clinical pharmacists in inpatient and outpatient settings. Commitment to professional development through continuing education and professional involvement.
